Moodswings... Apparently... THIS is possible...

A friend of mine recently told me that he is quite scared if he were to work under/for me. And that I can be quite scary when it comes to work. This isn't true, is it? The topic came about when we were talking about female/male bosses, and how female bosses have the tendancy to have moodswings. I beg to differ since guys have the male version of PMS too, and working for male bosses means you will have to attend to male egos.

Another interesting gender topic was brought up by a student of mine. She asked why almost everyone (with the exception of one guy and the prof and the teaching fellow) in the lab are GIRLS. All the ones directly handling projects are girls! And it was us 11 girls at the peak of things last year... Found it rather interesting too. Is it because they just aren't really suited or committed to this kind of work? Or is it because our lab culture doesn't support nurture of males in the lab? Wai thinks that the latter is not true because working in a lab-full of girls would mean better news for the guy, right? But I think the girls in the lab aren't what you call "normal". Not meaning that in a negative sense at all though I admit it is true that we aren't like the majority of girls out there. We aren't exactly "ku niang" girls and, to some level, I think we like feeling and being independent in such a way that makes guys feel uneasy. Well, in my opinion at least. And I think that's why we don't have many guys sticking around in the lab continuing their projects etc. Nothing long-term at least. Hur hur... I realise BWV is also bring run by girls... and very few guys.  ¶ 12:08 am
